The College has a long and colourful history. The current school, and its precursor institutions, are an im portant part of the story of this vibrant inner-suburban community with co nnections dating back to the early days of Melbourne’s history.

In 2007, the College celebrated its 125th anniversary with the publication of a book, The School on the Flat: Collingwood College 1882-2007, which was published and launched at the annual Spring Fair day in September 2007. $25 Hardback available from the School office or good local bookshops.

This publication was expertly researched and written by historian John Young, a retired researcher from the Natio nal Centre for Australian Studies at Mo nash University, typeset and designed by parent and friends of the College and produced as an attractive hard back book. The basis of learning and teaching at Collingwood College is to provide challenging and engaging curricula through which each student is able to experience personal, physical, creative and spiritual growth and aesthetic ex pression within a challenging academic f ramework.

The College is committed to all students achieving their potential. There are two key aspects to this. First, the development of new and more effective program options for students on all campuses. Second, the maintenance and further development of pathways for students from the college to further study or work.

The College seeks to expand options for students by developing a design specialism in co ncert with Fitzroy High School.

The College seeks to build on its accreditation as an Internatio nal school (ECIS /CIASa) by pursuing the introduction of the Internatio nal Baccalaureate Diploma program.
