It'll depend on the type of work and the size of the company. If the company or business is small, I don't think the resume means much. More than often, the boss (or whoever in charge) will see you and they can decide whether they want to take you on. A lot of time if you have someone introduces you will help. If the company is big, then the resume will have some help as they need this for record to justify the hiring. You need to understand what does the company do and you also need to show how your experience can match the requirements. I keep a few resume and use the most appropriate one. No such thing as a single formula to guarantee you a job. Remember - NO ONE OWES YOU A LIVING! In Australia (and every part of the world), it's entirely all up to you. Good luck.
